Meopham
Couch or Crouch being an old name for Cross. The pub can be traced to as early as 1598 but was probably there as early as 1456, the time when the Meopham charted was being wtitten, but changed name to the "George Inn" date unknown. Rumour has it that there used to be a tunnel that led from the pub to the church or Meopham Court that is behind the church.
