Local knowledge, further pictures, and licensee information would be appreciated.

I will be adding the historical information when I find or are sent it, but this project is a very big one, and I do not know when or where the information will come from.

All emails are answered.

The Licensing Records of 1872 stated the premises held a Beer License and was owned by John Coombes.

I am informed by Tony Smith that the pub disappeared in the 1970s to make way for a shopping centre.

Maidstone Telegraph, Saturday 9th July 1870.

Rochester and Chatham.

Police Court, Monday, before Mr. Guise, "Stipendiary Magistrate.)

George Jarvis, son of the landlady of the "Prince Albert" (sic) beer house, Fair Row, High Street was charged with assaulting a Royal Marine, named Mark Wirman, and set in his dog on him. Mr Stephenson, of Gibraltar place defended the accused. Mr. Guise said the conduct of the defendant, in setting the dog to worry the complainant, was not that of an Englishman. He considered he should not be doing his duty if he did not sentence him to 21 days hard labour.

Mr. Stephenson ask the Magistrate to reconsider his decision, and impose a fine on the defendant, who was a very respectable man, and had never been in such a position before.

Mr. Guise, however, refused to accede to the application, remarking that he had doubts whether he ought not to have passed a more severe sentence on the defendant.

Chatham News, Saturday 27 August 1870.

County Magistrates, Rochester. General Licensing Day.

There were 11 new applications for spirit licences.

Apply for a licence for the "Prince Alfred."

Mr. G. Winch opposed, and said in consequence of the great reduction that had lately taken place in the dockyard that the licence was not required.

Refused.

Hello.

My name is Brian Doolan.

I bought this clock about a year ago, at an auction.

Prince Alfred Clock

Do you know anything about Mr & Mrs Daniels, whose names are on the clock, so I can date when they were the Landlords?

Many thanks, Brian Doolan.
