PLANS for a commuter bar to open up by Sevenoaks train station have been put
forward.
DJ Matt Neave, of Argyle Road, is preparing a business plan for the
empty building in London Road, previously the "Railway and Bicycle."
He said: "Having lived in Sevenoaks nearly all of my life from the
days of the "Dorset Arms" the "Bligh's Kings Hall Balls" and the
"Farmers" it suddenly dawned on me that the main front L shape unit of
the new site formally the "Railway and Bicycle" is currently sitting
empty in one of the most prime positions to our main railway station.
"I have contacted the relevant agents to enquire about the details
and will be writing the owners shortly to establish its current agreed
terms then subject to what these are and the obvious planning and
licensing applications a proposal could be drawn up with the relevant
business plan and drawings put together for consideration by the
council.
"My proposals would be for a small and smart bar with a London,
business type vibe that would accommodate passing trade.
"It would form a central meeting point for couples and groups alike
on their way to the theatre and or a week or weekend night in London or
the surrounding areas.
"On the back of that if they were waiting for a taxi or a lift home
or simply fancied a beverage after their days work the bar would be open
to them.”
Mr Neave has proposed an over-25 criteria and said closing hours
would be no later than 11pm.
The bar would also be closed on a Sunday.
He insisted it would not be a music venue.
He said: "I personally think this is a fantastic opportunity filling
a void in the community that was left behind with the closure of the
railway and bicycle and the farmers and subject to licence and planning
consent providing a smart central meeting point called the The "New
Railway and Bicycle" or similar.
"The biggest issue for this project would be to raise the relevant
finance therefore any serious investors can contact me at djmattneave@yahoo.co.uk
and a copy of the relevant business plan can be sent once completed.
"I would also welcome views and feedback from the rest of our
community good or negative and an artist impression of how the site
would look.” |
