Inquest

An inquest was held at the "Rose and Crown Tavern," Gillingham, on Saturday last, before H. Wickham, Esq., deputy coroner, on view of the body of Charles Lane, aged 35, a pilot, who was accidentally drowned some weeks since. The deceased, it appeared, went to pilot the bridgetine Dazzle, from Chatham to Sheerness, when the weather being very squally, he was knocked overboard from his boat and drowned, the body not being recovered until Friday last, when it was found floating in the Medway.

The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death."
