In the 1920's there was a Blacksmiths forge and a small tea shop that was in the small cottages next to the Sawyers Arms which later was the pubs car park.

The Whitbread Company was the brewery who run the Sawyers until 1972 when Shepherd Neame Ltd brought it from Whitbread.

In 1983 a fire destroyed most of the main bar.'

Unfortunately this pub has been turned into a McDonald's with drive-through.

It is believed to have closed some time between 1994 and 2000.
