I believe the road changed name from Upper Luton Road to Capstone Road by 1938.

In May 2014, the pub was called "Mossy's Tavern" but reverted back to the "Wheatsheaf" again by April 2015. The location is on Capstone road directly opposite Hopewell Drive.

The "Wheatsheaf" had the most successful Petanque team in the UK at one point during the 90's. First called the Wheatsheaf, then the 'Old sheaf. Now disbanded.

THE WHEATSHEAF, CAPSTONE ROAD, CHATHAM

Who Owns It:- Tony Williams took over the pub four months ago, he had been running pubs for 34 years.

Best Drinks Offer:- prices are cheaper than many other places in Medway; Fosters £3.40, Kronenbourge £3.60, house spirits £2.40.

Best Food Offer:- The pub is not offering food yet but has plans for a seafood stall and summer barbecues.

Special Features:- Beer garden and function room which can cater for 50 and is free to hire.

Interesting fact: The building is 360 years old and was built in 1680. Tony gave the pub a complete refurbishment when he took over and now it has an old-fashioned, traditional pub feel.

Opening Times:- Monday to Thursday 3pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday, noon to 1am, Sunday, noon to 11pm.

I am informed that the premises was put up for sale in July 2021 by owners Fleurets.
