607. Indictment of William Turner of Ryarsh, victualler, for selling ale
and beer in his tippling-house during divine service on 6 July 1679 and
other occasions.

(A Tippling-House is a house in which
liquors are sold in drams or small quantities, to be drunk on the
premises.)

Thomas Brookes, of Ryarsh, was charged with having his house open on
Sunday, the 16th ult., during the hours of divine service, which
charge was proved by 159. K.C.C.—Fined 40s., including costs; this
being a second conviction.
