Petty sessions, Monday.

(Before, E. Twopeny, Esq. (chairman), the Rev. G. B. Moore, Lieut.-Colonel Dyke, and Sir John Croft, Bart.)

Gregory Mathams, beerhouse keeper, Sittingbourne, was summoned, on the information of the police for keeping his house open after eleven o’clock at night, on the 21st April. The Chairman remarked that it was not a strong case; but they should inflict a penalty of 5s. and 11s. costs.

Sittingbourne. An Important Beerhouse Case.

At the Petty Sessions, on Monday, Thomas Hall, a beerhouse keeper, was summoned for retailing beer and permitting it to be consumed on the premises, in contravention of the terms of his licence. It was proved that the man who drunk the liquor were all lodges, but the Bench ruled that the law had been infringed, and convicted the defendant.
