St Mary's Cray
CENSUS 1851.

AYRE Joseph, Cray Street, age 42, Publican.
|
From the Maidstone and Kentish Journal, 6 Sept, 1869.
Ann Thompson, who keeps a beer house at St Paul's Cray, was complained
of by Sergeant Higgins, who stated the house was so peculiarly situated
that it was a difficult thing to catch parties there, though it was well
known that numbers of men were served in the house on Sunday mornings.
When the police approached the house men would get out the back way and
run across the fields, and that was of frequent occurrence. This case
was adjourned until next Monday for the attendance of witnesses to prove
the above facts. |
