Gravesend Reporter, North Kent and South Essex Advertiser, Saturday 3 September 1887.
Application refused.
On Saturday last, at the Annual Licensing Sessions, Dartford, Mr. C.
R. Gramshaw, solicitor, of Gravesend, applied, on behalf of
Mr. Owen, for a licence for a beer house proposed to be erected at
Swanscombe. There was no licensed house within 700 or 800
feet, and since he made the application last year 50 houses have
been built, thus increasing the number on the estate to 200. At the
last General Sessions an application was made to declare Swanscombe
a popular place.
