INFRINGING THE EXCISE LAWS.
Rebecca Dilnott, keeper of a beershop in the parish of Waltham, was
charged upon an information preferred against her by the officers of
the Inland Revenue, for selling beer to be drunk on the premises,
the license specifying that it was not to be drunk on the premises,
whereby she had incurred a penalty of £20. The son of the defendant
appeared.
Evidence having been adduced proving the charge, the Bench inflicted
a fine of £5 with £1 11s. 0d. costs, it being a first offence.
Allowed a fortnight for payment.
