High Street Chatham
Only reference to this pub to date is from the Pigot's Directory of 1828, and it gives the address of High Street, and is listed under the towns "Chatham, Brompton, Gillingham." I am assuming it is in Chatham. I also have found a pub called the "Bear and Staff" also in the High Street as mentioned in 1838, and it may be the same building. Interesting to know the South Eastern Gazette mentioned the marriage of a Lizzy Tupper in 1831 at the "Bear and Staff". Could this have been a misprint for the name Tucker?
