I am not sure whether this pub is the same as either the "Crown" or the "Crown Point" but it was mentioned as the "Crown and Sceptre" in the 1770 advert, part of which is shown below.

It also appears a list of pubs in existence in the first 25 years of the 18th century, published by the Sevenoaks Chronicle and Kentish Advertiser, 23 January, 1903.

Joseph Drywood, from Cranbrooke, Worsted and Yarn Maker, in Mill-Lane, Maidstone. Advertising his products, also continues that he delivers the Kentish Gazette every Tuesday & Saturday, setting out from his house or the "Bull."

While delivering the papers he calls at the following named Public-Houses, to collect parcels & orders.
