At the Tonbridge Petty Sessions on Tuesday, the following licence
transfers were granted:- "Imperial Tavern," Quarry-hill, from the late William Cheale to William
Manser, deceased's son-in-law.

LATE MRS M. MANSER.
The death occurred after ten days' illness on Saturday of Mrs. Mary
Manser, aged 76, of 4, St. Mary's-road, who for some 25 years was the
licensee of the "Good Intent." Mrs. Manser had spent practically all her
life in Tonbridge, and for many years her husband was the licensee of
the "Imperial Tavern," which is now Ashby's Garage, at the foot of Quarry
Hill. Her husband died in 1906, and it was about this time that Mrs. Manser moved to the
"Good Intent." She retired from the business in 1925,
when her son, Mr. W. A. Manser, took over the "Good Intent" for some time.
She was a well-known member of the Licensed Victuallers' Association.
Two daughters and one son are bereaved. The funeral took place on
Wednesday at Tonbridge Cemetery, when the Rev. D. J. C. Speed-Andrews
conducted the service The mourners were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Manser, Mr.
and Mrs. A. J. Sparrowhawk. Mr. and Mrs. J. Lambert, Mrs. Blanning, Mrs.
Cloutt and Mrs. Richards. Wreaths were from members of the family and
Mrs. Cheal and Jack: Mr. and Mrs. Collinson: All at Cliffe; Stanley
Crayford and Bernard Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. W. Turley; Mr and Mrs. Hill
and Daisy; All at 27, Priory-road and 136, Vale-road: Miss Turpin: the
Misses Lambert: Mr. and Mrs. W. Cobb and Baby: Mr. H. Cobb and Mrs.; C.
