From an email received 9 July 2018. Robin Evans tells me that he is 99% certain that the above Google image from July 2009 is the "Kingsdown Arms." All I need now is a photo of it when it was open

The pubs closed during the 1990s and the building is now a private residence.

The Ancient Order of Foresters used to have their headquarters, and courts were held there every fourth Saturday in 1908-09.

It is stated that during 1908 a Hand-in-Hand Society; a benefit society on the share-out principle was formed at the pub.

John Boardman kindly sends me the above image of a 3d token that was obviously used at the said pub. He says the other side is blank. Clive Cheesman suggests that this was probably used in one of the early music or slot machines circa 1964.
