Belmont Road? / Scooks Hill Ospringe
I have only found one mention of this pub, addressed as Belmont Road, Ospringe, in the 1861 census. The only Belmont Road I know today in the area is in Faversham just north of Ospringe. However, further information shows the location of the "Leather Bottle" to be between Eastling and Painters Forstall at the bottom of Scooks Hill. Belmont Road and Scooks Hill being about 3½ miles apart. I would say this should be addressed as Painters Forstal myself and will probably move it to that menu soon. Further information from Mark Anderson says the following:- I live in Scooks Hill and was looking for information on the area. It would have been on the junction of Scooks Hill – however, that stretch of road leading to Belmont House is now called Stalisfield Road. The four houses at Scooks Hill tend to be referred to as part of the Belmont Estate rather than Eastling or Painters Forstall, there is nothing there to show a building ever existed now.
