I am assuming that "New Cross House" was a public house. It changed name to "Goldsmiths" prior to 2006. The census of 1881 indicated that it was being used by Thomas Pearcey age 44 and Henry Sharp age 55 who were cabinet makers. They were both listed as living there with their families, so I assume the building was also their place of work and wasn't a public house in those days. Latest information tells me (2019) that the premises is again operating under the name of the "New Cross House."
