High Street Erith
I have only found this one instant of this pub at present from the 1861 census.
Information researched by Jim Packer author of the "Lost Pubs of Bexley." Alfred Newman is listed as a beer retailer in the High Street in the 1859 Post Office directory his father, Thomas Newman kept the "Running Horses," between 1832 and at least 1851. The building is possibly in tithe plot 787, about 100 ft south of the "Locomotive." The property was demolished in place of 1-4 Leiston Cottages whose leases commenced Michaelmas 1861. These in turn were demolished for the new Erith town planning of the 1960s.
