Also known as the "Anchor" I am not sure whether the pub has ever changed name and added the word Blue to it, but they are certainly one and the same.

Traced back to 1840 as mentioned in the Tythe that year. I am informed that the pub closed in 1996 and has been converted into flats.

The building itself probably goes back to the 1500s and was dated as that by the firm doing renovations some time ago. They found a Y shaped tree trunk in it’s construction. This was common in the 1500s as a building method to put a beam from the V shape to the chimney pillar and then build round it.

From the Kentish Gazette, 30 October 1838.

On Wednesday afternoon Mr. Carttar held an inquest at the "Blue Anchor," St. Paul’s Cray, Kent, on the body of John Deeves, aged 67, a labourer in the employment of Lord Wynford. The deceased was found dead in a ditch on his lordship’s land, on Sunday morning. It appeared in evidence that the deceased was a man of exemplary regularity of conduct, but that he had been some time in delicate health. He received his wages on Saturday, and after his family had remained the whole of the night ensuing in a state of the most distressing suspense, he was found next morning dead, and the money in his pocket.

Verdict:— Died from natural causes.
