The census of 1891 mentions a "Clifton Hotel" but it appears to be empty when the census was taken. No further information was given as to the address, accept Pegwell.

Further information says the building can be dated to mid 1800s.

SKATING RINK AT PEGWELL.

Last week a skating rink was opened at the "Clifton Hotel," Pegwell Bay, when there was a numerous attendance. The rink is most pleasantly situated, being very close to the sea, and it is excellently constructed and replete with every accommodation.
