After being open as a public house with the strangely spelled name the "Middle Ei8ht" from between June 2013 and May 2016, the premises was closed for a short time, to open again, this time with an even stranger name of the "Mug and Meeple." Another name suggested for the premises was the "Swords and Saucery," but this appears to have been abandoned.

It is not thought that the premises holds a drinks license, even though the sign shows a beer mug, but I believe it is operating as a cafe and the words, "Gamer Cafe" can be seen on the side of the building. That is quite relevant actually, as a Meeple, so I am informed, is a small plastic or wooden character used in gaming.

Further information says that the premises is a place where people can come and play or perhaps buy the latest board games, and also serve coffee, tee and soft drinks.
