Latest 1919+

The only reference I have found so far for this pub is in the Census of 1911 and with the following marriage of George Stirrups to Harriett Crake.

From Bugden & Biggs Brewery Limited, letter-headed paper.

13th July 1919.

C. Remington Esq.

The Office of the Clerk to the Justices, Police Station, Chatham.

Dear Sir,

"Old Oak Tree" Beer House.

The tenant of the above, a widow, has contracted a marriage with a Mr. George Stirrups, as per marriage certificate enclosed herein, and we shall be glad if you will kindly make the necessary alteration on the Justices' Certificate which is also now sent to you.

Will you kindly return both documents at your convenience.

We notice that the Justices' Certificate describes the property as being owned by Messrs. Skinner & Barrett of Hadlow - this, however, is not the case as the Property was purchased by this Company many years ago.

We regret that you were not informed of this at the time and shall be gladd if you will now kindly make the necessary alteration.

Yours faithfully,

L. F. Aithany.

Manager.
