Bromley South railway station opened on 5th of July 1858, and I will
assume the Victorian pub know as the "Railway Tavern" or "Railway Hotel"
opened shortly afterwards, if not during the building of the railway.
Refurbished in the summer of 2014, the pub is situated opposite Bromley
North Station.
It is said that Ernest Hemmingway, H.G.
Wells and David Bowie have all drunk here.

From the Southeastern Gazette, 20 February 1866.
Daring Burglary.
On Monday night, a daring burglary was committed at
Miss. Emily Portman’s “Railway Tavern.” The house was secured about
midnight on Monday, but on the following morning, when the servant came
down stairs, it was apparent, from the state of confusion in which the
place was, that it had been visited by unwelcome guests during the
night. On search being made it appeared that access had been obtained by
cutting a piece out of the shutters in the back parlour and then opening
the window. A large number of articles were carried off, including four
pounds of cigars, bottles of spirits, silver spoons, a silver watch, &c.
Information was at once given to the police, and Inspector Linvell
personally instituted the necessary inquiring but beyond the finding at
the back of the premises of a home-made burglar’s implement for cutting
away portions of shutters, there was no trace left of the burglars.

Maidstone Journal and Kentish Advertiser, Saturday 26 June 1869.
STEALING EATABLES.
On Monday, W. Wilson and Anne Hooper were charged at Mr. Lattor's
Office, Bromley, before Coles Child, Esq., with stealing a
piece of bacon, a piece of cheese, and a pocket handkerchief, the
property of James Venness. The property was left by the
prosecutor in the "White Hart Tap," lying in a basket, and whilst he
went out to prisoners walked in and stole its. Information was
given to P.S. Tipton., who went in pursuit, and found them at the
"Railway Tavern," close to the station, in the tap room, cooking
the stolen bacon. Both prisoners were remanded.

Bromley & District Times, Friday 13 July 1894.
Railway Hotel, Bromley.
No house in the neighbourhood is conducted upon a more practical or
straightforward basis than the
"Railway Hotel," presided over by Mrs. E. Grayley, the affable
hostess, who even studies the comfort and
convenience of her guests. In addition to the first class liquors,
cigars, and tobacco, the house offers
additional attraction of a substantial dinner for 1s. 6d. per head,
plenty of good beef and vegetables being
provided, together with every attention. Indeed, it may be readily
admitted that Grayley's, Hotel is one of
the most up-to-date houses in the district.
