Built in 1892 by Edward Hussey as part of his Scotney Estate to coincide with the coming of the railway that year. However in 1918 it looks like the premises was operating as a Temperance Hotel. Their telephone number in 1925 was 22. Changed name to the "Green Cross" as yet date unknown.
