Not a lot known about this pub at present, accept the licensee list below. Voted CAMRA pub of the year in 2012. Information printed inside the pub says the following:- A Country Beer House called the "Red Lyon" can be found in records dating 1731. The first "Red Lyon" stood in open country and was reported to sell groceries and haberdashery. When the Crystal Palace was opened by Queen Victoria in 1854 and as the palace could be seen across the open fields the landlord changed the name to the "Crystal Palace." The name changed again in 1869 to the "Royal Oak" when the grocery side of the trade ceased. In 1873 a new landlord changed the name back to the original "Red Lion" but changed the spelling of Lyon, changing the Y to an I. One previous licencee was Charles Moore known as Clown More once a specialist children's entertainer and well-known character in the area. As a point of interest the first theatre in Bromley was erected in wood and canvas next to the "Red Lion." Admission 3d.
