Hello Tony, (CAMRA Pubs Database Coordinator)
I hope some this will go in the next edition of your magazine.
I have now taken over the running of the "Spires" bar at the
Landmark Center in Deal. As you know it has been underperforming for
years and does not have a great reputation. I have been tasked with
reversing that trend.
I am currently redecorating and improving the product range. A
pub sign is in the pipeline and is being designed by Nicki Vowles -
a local artist - and will look stunning.
The pub will be called the "Salvation" to reflect the building's
previous use as a church, but the pub sign will depict a lifeboat
going to a ship in distress to tie in with the local history of
North Deal.
What is of importance to your members is I have stopped serving
real ale until the relaunch. This is because it is not selling fast
enough and I refuse to serve bad ale - it's better to serve none at
all.
There will be a big article in the Deal Mercury announcing the
relaunch and ale will be available once more, initially two
handpumps but I hope to increase that to four as the turnover
increases. I will also stock some still cider as well as a keg cider
and Strongbow cloudy.
I will keep you informed of developments as well as letting you
know the relaunch date as soon as I have one fixed. I appreciate the
support you and your members have given the "Freed Man" and I hope
that will extend to the "Salvation" - I am aiming for a larger
version of the "Freed Man" serving great Ale, lager and cider in a
relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
Hope to see you soon,
Regards Ian Goodban. |
