Unknown address Deal
Mentioned in Steve Glover and Michael Rogers book The Old Pubs of Deal and Walmer. The will in 1676 of Richard Ayler, who was said to be a pilot, and probably licensee, stated that he was leaving the "Bird in Hand" to a lady called Jane Hodges. He also left to his brother, named Nicholas Goughe part of his great boat and capstan which was said to be lying southwards from the house. I assume the building was close to the sea. Only other reference found to this house is from an 1686 document where a Peter Whiteacra mentions "one tenement the "Bird in Hand". Obviously up for sale.
