Identified in Barry J White's list of Thanet's public houses and hotels 19th and early 20th century.

The premises was used in the fire of 1882 to accommodate the boarders from the "Royal Hotel" when it was destroyed in the fire.

VALUABLE LEASE IF THE "GROSVENOR ARMS" LICENSED HOTEL AND TAVERN. TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION. By J. STANER,

AT the "King's Head Inn," MARGATE, on SATURDAY, the 27th day of June, 1840, at Six o’clock in the Evening precisely, (unless previously disposed of by Private Contract, of which due notice will be given), the Unexpired Term of 18 Years, of these DESIRABLE and ESTABLISHED BUSINESS PREMISES. Situate in the Upper Marine Terrace, and known as the "GROSVENOR ARMS."

The HOUSE commands uninterrupted land and sea views, is newly erected and contains six airy bed-rooms, two upper Sitting-rooms, parlour, and bar, well arranged, with Double Front, and fitted in the modern style; coffee and smoking rooms, capital wine and beer cellars, two kitchens, an excellent supply of rain and spring water, and every convenience for carrying on an extensive trade.
