Hotel wants to add 20 more rooms.

A hotel near the Port of Dover has submitted a planning application to add 20 bedrooms.

The Premier Inn Dover East Hotel in Jubilee Way, Guston, has asked for permission to add an extension including an external staircase and more car parking.

The Whitbread Group, which manages the 650 Premier Inns, says there is a demand for more hotel rooms.

The hotel is associated with the "Duke of York" Brewers Fayre pub, both off the A2 between the port and Whitfield.

If permission is granted, the extended hotel will have 60 rooms and 60 car parking spaces.

No date has yet been set for the application to be discussed.
