East Sutton Road East Sutton
Previous to 1870 this establishment was an off-license, but the magistrates granted an on-license in September 1870. Unfortunately the exact location or name of the premises remains unknown. The license holder in 1861 was a Thomas Giles, who was the brother-in-law to William Sedgwick, of Tong Farm, East Sutton. By 1871 the premises was identified as the "Prince of Wales."
One time a Mason's tied house, but the brewery was bought out by Shepherd Neame in 1956 and the brewery was subsequently closed and demolished. I am informed that this also incorporated the "Shant Hotel" and unfortunately burnt down in 2002.
