PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1841-

Bricklayer's Arms

Latest 1851+

(Name to)

Frant Road

Royal Tunbridge Wells

The pub has been traced back to 1841 when it was in the occupation of Robert Monckton who owned this Beer Shop addressed as Rumbers Street, no name appears at this time. I believe Rumbers Street later became part of Frant Road and by 1851 the premises had gained the name of the "Bricklayer's Arms, not to be confused with another "Bricklayer's Arms" situated at 21 Victoria Road. Or the "Bricklayer's Arms" at 2 High Street. Local knowledge required please.

By 1861 the premises had changed name to the "Woodman's Arms."
