Only found as a beer-house in 1861 and with the death of the licensee perhaps this was the end of this as well.

From the Maidstone Telegraph, Rochester and Chatham Gazette, 12 October 1861.

Southborough. Sudden Death.

Mr. E. Beeney, landlord of the "Cock" beer shop, not making his appearance at the usual time on Friday morning, and no answer being returned to the calls at his bedroom door, the door was broken open, and it was then discovered that he was a corpse, life having been extinct for some hours.
