The Kentish Independent, Saturday, 10 July, 1880.

W. T. Davis v. Frederick Thomas Davis.

This was a judgement summons against defendant, a clerk in the Royal Arsenal, in a cause brought by the plaintiff, landlord of the "Ravensbourne Tavern," Catford.

Mr. Laidman appeared for the plaintiff and stated that the debt was for money lent, and plaintiff recovered judgement in February last, when defendant made an offer to pay £2 per month, and the judge thought fit to make an order for £3 per month.

Defendants have not paid any money whatever, and was in receipt of £2 4s per week salary in the Royal Arsenal.

His Honour said he had no alternative but to commit the defendant to prison, and made an order that he be committed for 30-days, but on defendant's earnest appeal, directed that the warrant should not issue if £1 per month was paid.
