Local Keith Whitmore says that a distant relative of his named William Allchin ran a beer house somewhere in the village, where he was selling ale from his home premise. He called the house the "Tom and Jerry."

Unfortunately no further details were given.

Further information suggests that this was the "Royal George," although at present I can find no mention of William Allchin there.
