Opposite Parish Church Strood
This was mentioned in a book called the "History of Strood" by Henry Smetham, published 1899, who says this pub was situated opposite the Parish Church and can be traced back to 1699, between the forge and Mr. Illman's, when it was known as the "Three Merry Boys," unfortunately no dates given. He goes on to say that the site is now (1899) covered by two modern houses. However, I have the name of a licensees there from the 1911 census.
