Not sure yet when it happened but the pub is now (2019) trading with the simpler name of "Black Horse" having dropped the Fruit Cart off around 1930, this probably happened when the up to then owners Russell's Gravesend Brewery sold it to Truman, Hanbury, Buxton and Co.

During licensee Dave Hammock's time inside the pub was a collection of stevedores' hooks, designed to haul cargo off ships, and in the garden the pub also had an aviary, pond and monkey-house
