No love lost over noise and vomit.
Late-night venue: Casanova Mio could lose its licence over antisocial
behaviour.
A TOWN-centre bar in Deal could lose its licence over accusations of
late-night revellers vomiting and urinating in nearby residential
streets.
Casanova Mio, which is
opposite the town hall in the High Street, is a popular live-music venue
and restaurant which can open until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights.
But people living in homes nearby are being kept up at night by noise
from the bar and have discovered people being sick and relieving
themselves on the quite streets of the seaside town.
A neighbour living in Middle
Street, to the rear of the venue, who did not wish to be named, spoke of
her problems with regular noise.
She said: “All the neighbours found they were staying open late most
nights, until between 1am and 3 am.
“They close at the front at 11pm when they are supposed to, but they
don’t close because the people come pouring out. The neighbours are
getting upset.
“Why are they going on past the licensed hours? People are
afraid that in the summer it is going to be very much worse.
“When the pubs are closed it is a place to go. It is a residential
area, the hours are not right.”
An application for the licence to be reviewed has been received by Dover
District Council.
The application says customers vomit, urinate and leave litter in the
area, and it claims some residents can hear noise from inside the bar in
their homes.
The Dover Express approached Casanova Mio for a comment on the licence
review but had not received a response at the time of going to press.
