Cobham
Previously known as the "Star and Garter" this pub gained the name of the "Duke William" after Prince William Augustus, born (26 April 1721, the third and youngest son of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland and his wife, Caroline of Ansbach. He was Duke of Cumberland from 1726. He is best remembered for his role in putting down the Jacobite Rising at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, which made him immensely popular throughout Britain. Although he was made the Duke of Cumberland from 1726, I don't believe the name of the pub was changed to reflect this status till after his death on the 31 October 1865 as the first reference to the new name of "Duke of Cumberland" wasn't found till 1866.
