Tunbridge Wells Petty sessions. Licensing.
Mr. T. H. Kelsey applied for the confirmation of a provisional licence
granted by the Bench for the erection of licensed premises at Ashurst,
abbutting the station on the new line to be placed there.
Mr. Fitness deposed to the service of the necessary notice, and thus the
provisional licence had been confirmed at Court of General Sessions.
Mr. Wright produced the plans of the house, and deposed that it had been
erected strictly in accordance with those plans, and was now complete
and ready for occupation.
The Bench confirmed the provisional licence.
Superintendent Barnes asked what was to be the name of the new public
house.
Mr. Simpson suggested "Jubilee."
Mr. Kelsey said it was near the new railway station.
Superintendent Barns suggested it should be the "Railway Hotel."
Mr. Simpson:- There are so many "Railway Hotels."
Superintendent Barnes:- Not at Ashurst.
Mr. Stone Wigg asked when the new line would be opened.
Mr. Kelsey anticipated that it would be another year and a half.
