High Street New Romney
Edward Smith, who is doing some family history research tells me that the census covering New Romney for 1861 shows that his great-great-great-grand-father, Edward Smith and his family were living in the High Street in a property described as the "Masons Arms" and his occupation was given as Mason and Publican. They were also still there in the 1871 census. Interestingly the property next door was the "Royal George" which was run by George Masey who lived there with his family.
