Hersden

Originally known as the "Shrew Beshrewed" Whitbreads sold this one on 20 April 1980 and it became a freehouse known as "Raggs," which seemed to cater for the mining fraternity (when the mines were open). I am told by Rory Kehoe that the entertainment here was tacky, mostly for chaps, for example stag do's and scantily-clad young ladies dancing around with greased up snakes and he says he's not kidding either!

The pub finally closed in 1988 and the building then used as a car dealership.
