Previously known as the "Swiss Cottage Tavern" it changed name in the 1980s. During the 1980s it was renowned as a disco pub. After a developer was refused planning permission to demolish the pub it was inexplicably destroyed by fire and the building was demolished in the 1990s and the by 1992 the obligatory apartment blocks now stands over its foundations.
