A document of 1683 mentions a tenament called the "White Horse" previously called the "Greyhound" for sale with garden, orchard and five acres. So it seems there was a house on this site here that predates 1683.

A lease dated 1769 mentions "the messuage lately known as the "White Hart" with yard and garden." So either the previous mention stating the "White Horse" was a mistake, or the premises had again changed name to the "White Hart" by 1769.
