Ramsgate

Reference has been found from the Kentish Gazette in 1844 of an inn called the "Black Eagle Inn." However, it is unclear as to the correct address of this establishment, as the title refers to Ramsgate, yet the article is signed Milton. To date, I have found no inns with this name in either Ramsgate, Milton near Gravesend, or indeed Milton Regis, so will place it here until further information is found.

However, there is an "Eagle Inn" situated in Ramsgate, which could well be the same.

Kentish Gazette, Tuesday 9 April 1844.

Ramsgate Commutation.

The draft apportionment with map and bill of costs, are deposited at the "Black Eagle Inn," in the parish; and a Commissioner will attend to hear appeals (if any) on Saturday, the 13th day of April, by 11 o'clock, at the above Inn.

Robert Lake, Valuer.

Milton, March 18th, 1844.
