Kentish Gazette, 10 February 1852.

Ashford. PETTY SESSIONS, Saturday, Feb. 7.

(Before J. B. Wildman, Esq., and Bench of Magistrates).

John Chapman, of the "Bricklayers' Arms," Charing, was also summoned by Superintendent Gifford for Sunday trading. Fined to the amount of expenses, in consequence of the former good conduct of the house.

 

Canterbury Journal, Kentish Times and Farmers' Gazette, Saturday 14 February 1852.

John Chapman, landlord of the "Bricklayer’s Arms," Charing, was charged with keeping his house open during the hours of divine service, on the 18th ult.

Superintendent Gifford stating he had no complaints respecting the house previously, defendant was ordered to pay the costs.
