I am informed by Brian Weeks that the "Bridge Tavern" was on the end of a row of cottages in The Quarries at the junction with Bottlescrew Hill.

Maidstone Journal and Kentish Advertiser, Monday 3 September 1866.

Harry Lovelace, of the "Bridge Tavern," Boughton, applied for a spirit license.

The license was refused.

From the Maidstone Telegraph, Saturday 8 January 1870.

The license of a beer-house at Boughton Monchelsea, was transferred from the executors of Mr. Lovelace to his widow.

The son, about 20 years of age, said he should manages the business for his mother, she was old and very deaf. His father kept the house 30 or 40 years.

The Chairman gave the young man some good advice as to the manner of conducting the house.
