Rood Lane / Church Street Greenwich
Jacqueline Davies kindly writes to me who says she is interested in 17th century Greenwich and has been doing research from sources including a survey of East Greenwich Manor in a document titled "A survey of the Kings Lordship or Manor of East Greenwich in the County of Kent made by Samuel Travers 1695-97." She kindly sends me the following information:- The "Bull" held by Andrew Elton (In 1664 an Anthony Elton taxed on 2 hearth property East of High Street; too small for a pub). Reference also made to the Bull’s Head Tavern, newly built putting two properties together in Rood Lane (West of the Palace). Further information seems to suggest that the "Bulls head" and "Buffalos Head" may well be the same premises, due to the handwriting on a early documents found.
