Godmersham

Just the one finding for that at present, and I'm not sure that this pub is in Godmersham at all, loaca tell me they have never heard of one. But until I am able to trace a Mrs West at another pub with the same name, I'm leaving it here.

From the Kentish Gazette, 13 June 1843.

On Whit Tuesday the Godmersham Benefit Society celebrated their third anniversary at the "Good Intent," where a good dinner was provided by the worthy hostess, Mrs. West; after which the members went in procession to church, where an admirable sermon was preached by the Rev. Alfred Lyall, M.A. Subscriptions were received from the worthy and respected vicar and the neighbouring gentry to enable the society to meet the expenses of the next year. The whole of the proceedings were conducted with the greatest harmony and good feeling.
