Open in the High Street since 1851 as far as I have gone back so far, and
still operating in 1939, but as yet I don't know when it closed. Local
knowledge appreciated.
Situated right next door to the local stores it was known as "Nutwood
House" in 2009 and is another private residence.

Kent & Sussex Courier, Friday 28 February 1975.
Brewery man takes ex-pub.
The old "Red Lion," in the Street, Plaxtol, should feel quite at
home in the former pub, converted into a private house.
For Mr. Reginald Johnson who moved in earlier this month, is a trade
manager for Whitbread's.
He, his wife, and 4 children come from Loose, near Maidstone, and
are hard at work making the former pub a comfortable home.
Most of the outward signs of its former existence have disappeared,
and it has been renamed Nutwood House after the 2 acres behind it
planted with cobnut trees.

With there being another "Red
Lion" at near by Dunks Green and another "Red
Lion" at Borough Green, there may be a little confusion over the
licensee list at these three pubs.
