King Street

Sandwich

Above map 1871 showing two pubs, so far unknown along King Street.

I have recently been sent the above images of these Sandwich maps from Robert Audley, and at present I have no idea what these pubs were called, and haven't seen reference to them at all.

Today they are identified as the buildings of 12 King Street, "Kent and Sussex Holiday Cottages," and 14 King Street, "Laufords Sweets" and "Sandwich Kitchens and Bathrooms."

Just round the corner in in Austin's Lane, as seen on the first window is the following ghost writing. "Shoes for Children." The later map seems to indicate that this connected to 14 King Street inside.
